Engine Heater SafeStart 800 series
Safe and efficient contact heaters for enine blocks and oil pans.
Description
DEFA has focused on easy installation and optimal heating functionality during the development of engine preheaters. For different engine and vehicle combinations, DEFA has nine primary heater elements with more than 500 variants and over 5000 individual applications.
Contact heaters can be divided into two different groups:
– Heaters for engine blocks
– Heaters for oil pans
Contact heaters consist of an element cast in aluminum, which is adapted to fit the installation point. Contact heaters for oil pans heat the oil instead of the coolant. The rise in engine block temperature produced by a contact heater for oil pans is therefore not comparable with an engine heater which heats the coolant. A heat-conducting paste is applied to the contact surfaces of the heater to improve the transfer of heat from the contact heater to the engine block or oil pan.
Usage definitions
Normal usage – DEFA engine heaters are designed for “normal usage.” DEFA defines “normal usage” as; 3 connections for 3 hours pr. Twenty-four hours for 150 days (5 months) a year.
