Engine preheaters SafeStart 000 series

DEFA has focused on easy installation and optimal heating functionality during the development of engine preheaters. For different engine and vehicle combinations, DEFA has nine primary heater elements with more than 500 variants and over 5000 individual applications.

The 000 series can only be used on engines with a cast-iron block. The heater’s flange consists of a conical slice, and the heater is kept in place in the engine’s frost hole by a press fit solution. This type of heater is used for engines with a sufficiently large coolant tank, in which the entire heated part of the heating element can be installed. Generally for vehicles with larger engines and a correspondingly large coolant tank.

Engine pre-heaters are supplied separately because of specific necessary adaptations to each individual engine and vehicle type.

Usage definitions

Normal usage – DEFA engine heaters are designed for “normal usage.” DEFA defines “normal usage” as; 3 connections for 3 hours pr. Twenty-four hours for 150 days (5 months) a year.

Professional use – For use emergency vehicles or other vehicles where the heater is in use continually, yearly controls are necessary. It might be needed to install a replacement heater. DEFA AS will not cover the yearly service cost.

NOTE! Pulse power – Some parking facilities use interval (pulse) power timers that turning the power On and Off several times per hour. Using a DEFA engine heater in combination with these timers is NOT considered “Normal use” and claims will be declined.
