Meet Ketil Granbakken, Lyse Energy:

"How Customer Satisfaction is Key to Succeeding with Charging Facilities"

DEFA and one of Norway’s largest energy companies, Lyse Energy, have a partnership to deliver energy-efficient and unmatched charging experiences for housing cooperatives and businesses. "For us, it is about listening to what users are concerned with. The first thing users request is a fixed cable, and they want a display on the charger, something DEFA is the first to provide", says Ketil Granbakken, Sales Director at Lyse, who sees DEFA Power as the number one choice for their installations.

What is most important for EV owners in a housing cooperative and at a workplace?

What is most important for EV owners in a housing cooperative and at a workplace? Ketil Granbakken, Sales Director at Lyse Energi, is giving his view on this.

“It’s about having a reliable customer experience, ensuring that you always have access to charging, whether you’re at work or at home,” says Ketil Granbakken.

A truly great customer experience also requires good customer support to turn to when questions arise.

What do business owners or owners of housing cooperatives need from you?

In their facilities, Lyse chooses DEFA Power, partly due to its unparalleled user-friendliness and because this charging station meets both the installer’s requirements and all regulations and guidelines in the market. But what do business owners or owners of charging facilities need from Lyse?

“Firstly, business owners or a board in a housing cooperative, are terrified of tackling the infrastructure that needs to be built. They don’t quite know what is required”, says Ketil Granbakken.

“It’s a complex solution, simply put. So what they expect today is for someone to take full responsibility; make sure it’s designed correctly, installed properly, and that it actually works when it’s in place. And then they also expect someone to take responsibility for those who will use the charging solution. Make sure you pay for your consumption”.

He also talks about the importance of having the right technology and choosing the right infrastructure that can stand there, not just now, but for ten years ahead.

What should you consider when establishing a charging facility?

What should you consider when establishing a charging facility? The answer is extensive for those who wish to manage the entire process themselves. But this is where Lyse steps in for those who want help from start to finish.

How much power will be needed? How many charging points can we have? How do we build a good infrastructure? How can we utilize the power in the best possible way? What costs are we looking at? A housing cooperative or a company planning to install charging stations often has many questions.

“Many are struggling today. Either you’ve started building something, or you’re sitting there wondering, ‘who do I actually contact to get started?’. For us, it’s about taking care of the whole customer journey,” says Ketil Granbakken, adding that prioritizing the end customer is key.

What challenges do you see with the electrification?

“There are approximately three million passenger cars on Norwegian roads today, and 25 percent of them are EVs. Those are fantastic numbers, but we know that 75 percent are expected to transition from fossil cars to electric cars in the coming years. What challenges do you see with this shift we are facing?” That’s the question DEFA’s Anders Granquist asks Ketil Granbakken.

Electrification is as exciting as it is challenging. Ketil Granbakken explains that Lyse’s main focus is to further develop its power plants to ensure that sufficient energy is available in the Norwegian market.

He says:
“And the future is crystal clear, as our customers put it. If you have an EV, charging should be super easy! You should arrive at your parking spot, and then you just leave the parking spot, plain and simple. And then it’s all about utilizing the energy that is already there”.

“And then it’s about helping the building owners that the energy available to you, is used in the best possible way”.
